Celebrating 30 Years of Hope and Housing

A Place Called Home: 1995–2025

We are thrilled to announce a major milestone—A Place Called Home is celebrating 30 years of providing compassionate care and support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the City of Kawartha Lakes and the County of Haliburton.

Since opening our doors in 1995, we’ve remained deeply committed to our mission: offering safe shelter, essential services, and a pathway to stability for those in need. What began as a small grassroots effort has grown into a vital community organization—one that thousands have turned to in times of crisis and transition.

💙 Our Journey, Our Impact

Over the past three decades, A Place Called Home has:

  • Delivered emergency shelter, Drop-In services, and transitional housing to thousands

  • Helped individuals reconnect with health, employment, and housing supports

  • Partnered with local agencies, volunteers, and donors to build a stronger safety net

  • Advocated for long-term solutions to homelessness and housing insecurity

This anniversary is more than a moment to reflect—it’s a chance to honour the resilience of our clients, celebrate the dedication of our staff and volunteers, and thank the community that has stood beside us every step of the way.
